Each paper in the Proceedings of the RAWCON 2004 Conference will be printed from a file uploaded by the author using the link to the RAWCON Submission Form. All submissions have to be received electronically; pdf format is strongly preferred (for experts, see PDF Specifications, for most of us, see: PDF Instructions), but Postscript and MS/Word (6.0/97 or later) are acceptable. The maximum file size is 1.0 Mb; larger files will be arbitrarily reduced. Please note that no additional content editing will be performed by the RAWCON editors. In addition, a new IEEE Copyright Form has to be submitted.

The deadlines for submission are: 20 July 2004 for .ps and .doc files, 24 July 2004 for .pdf files.

Please note that all Postscript or MS Word files will be converted to pdf format. Because of anomalies that sometimes occur when converting Postscript files or MS Word files to pdf (such as figures that change position on the page, etc.) it is strongly recommended that each author perform the conversion to pdf before submitting the manuscript. Authors should print the pdf file and proofread it carefully. The danger of submitting a Postscript or MS Word file is that any errors in the conversion to pdf might not be detected before the Proceedings are produced.
The total length of your paper may not exceed four pages. Longer papers will be truncated or excluded from the Proceedings unless special arrangements are made in advance with the Technical Program Chair.

Manuscript Preparation (see Sample Manuscript)

  • Manuscripts will be printed in black-and-white; electronic uploading to IEEEXplore can be in color
  • Use either U.S. Letter (8.5"x11") or A4 pages and, for this submission, please stay within these margins:
    • for U.S. Letter: 0.75" (top), 1.0" (bottom), 0.625" (sides)
    • for A4 paper: 1.9 cm (top), 4.3 cm (bottom), 1.3 cm (sides)
  • Use two columns per page for your text (with 0.25" (0.4 cm) gutter between columns)
  • Use single space with standard fonts (e.g. Arial, Times New Roman) and font size of at least 10 point
  • Ensure that all fonts are embedded in the submitted file (a manual check can be found in Font Check)
  • Maximum file size is 1.0 Megabytes
  • Embed all figures and captions within the text
  • Ensure legibility; simplify all figures and tables and maintain uniformity of style throughout

Paper ID, Title, Author(s), Affiliation(s) and Abstract

  • Place Paper ID in boldface type, >12 point font (e.g. M1.1) in the upper right hand corner of the first page
  • Capitalize only initial letters in title and author information
  • Center title across the page in boldface type; skip one line between title and authors
  • Center author name(s) below title; if required, reference affiliations with superscripts
  • Center affiliation name(s) below author name(s),
  • Include phone, fax, and email for the corresponding author
  • Skip one line before Abstract and start your Abstract in the first column, use boldface type
  • Index terms should be listed next; keywords can be found at the IEEE keword list.

Publication Release
Receipt of your manuscript by this Conference, together with the IEEE Copyright Form, constitutes irrevocable release for open publication. Make sure you fill in title and authors and sign the copyright form. Do not send your manuscript if it is not fully cleared (see and check release statement on the Submission Form).
